The Sounds look for a fifth consecutive win today as they face the Iowa Cubs at 2:05 CT. Pregame on 102.5 The Game begins at 1:50, and you can also listen via the TuneIn Radio and iGoRadio apps. It’s Mike Fiers (6-2, 2.48) against Eric Jokisch (4-4, 3.59).
Today’s interview is with right-hander Jimmy Nelson, who set a new career-high last night with 11 strikeouts over 7 2/3 dominant innings against the I-Cubs in the Sounds’ 2-1 win. It was Nelson’s first outing with the Sounds since coming back from the Brewers, for whom he pitched last Sunday in Miami en route to his first big league victory. Nelson discusses that outing, his outing last night, the development of his change-up to go with his heavy fastball and power slider and his quest for his first career hit (0-for-54), which nearly came last night on a liner to second base.
